Michael Schostak is a proven conservative with the demonstrated ability to win at the ballot box and resonate with voters across the political spectrum. As a Bloomfield Township Trustee for nearly six years, Michael has tirelessly championed conservative policies with an analytical and thoughtful approach to governance, successfully leading the charge on lowering taxes and water & sewer rates, rightsizing the workforce, fighting eminent domain and vaccine mandates, and funding the township’s legacy pension and healthcare trusts. As a voting member of the Bloomfield Twp Election Commission, Michael is literally on the front lines fighting for election integrity, acting as a check and balance against the new Democrat clerk. He successfully implemented new absentee ballot handling procedures including better storage and chain of custody processes.

Michael has been a Republican precinct delegate for 12 years, regularly attending county and state conventions. In 2021 Michael was elected Treasurer of the 9th District Republican Committee, and has served as a proxy at several state committee meetings in the last 18 months.

What can you expect with Michael as your Admin Vice Chair?

If elected to serve the party as a vice chair Michael will devote his time, experience, and network to champion our ticket in the fall, from top to bottom. We must work hard to ensure we keep our majorities in the legislature in the face of the Democrat gerrymander. His demonstrated track record of being the top vote getter in a purple community in the middle of a purple county will be invaluable to candidates who need to do well here and in similar communities around Michigan. Michael will work with HRCC, state party staff, and individual campaign leadership to provide support where it is needed most.

What is Michael’s background?

Michael grew up in Southfield and Beverly Hills, MI. After attending Cranbrook high school, Michael went to college at Univ. of Penn-The Wharton School (with Don Jr. and Ivanka Trump) and earned an MBA from the Univ. of Michigan-Ross. Michael is currently managing member of Schostak Capital Advisors, working with small and medium-sized businesses around the country in the areas of business strategy , mergers & acquisitions, and corporate finance.

Michael is formerly a finance professor at Wayne State University-Ilitch School of Business, where he taught courses in financial modeling & analysis and corporate valuation. He was honored with an award for Innovation in Teaching and the highest score possible from student ratings.

Michael’s prior professional experience spans a wide variety of financial roles, including capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, corporate financial planning & analysis, and investor relations. For three years, Michael worked at Lehman Brothers in New York City as an investment banker. Michael began his career at Booz Allen Hamilton consulting for the U.S. military and intelligence communities on matters of economic policy, financial analysis, resource planning, and capital budgeting; he held a Top Secret defense security clearance while working at the Pentagon. Among his many important projects at DoD, Michael’s analysis was a critical component of Congress’ approval of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, the largest government IT outsourcing contract of its kind at $5 Billion.

Michael was elected to the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees in November 2016 and re-elected in November 2020, both times as recipient of the most votes among the trustee candidates. He has since been appointed as the chair of the compensation and staffing study committee, a trustee of the Retired Employees’ Healthcare Benefits Trust, the Trustee representative on the Water Resources Stakeholders committee, the Cable Board, liaison to the Bloomfield Historical Society, and is one of three members of the Bloomfield Township Election Commission.

Michael is also an advisory board member of Jewish Community Security Inc. a cause he is very passionate about. In this role, Michael advises the leadership of JCSI in their work to protect the Jewish community of Michigan, including its schools, synagogues, camps, and other agencies, through target hardening, critical response training, management of security personnel and security funds allocation.

Michael is the proud father of Hayley, age 11, and Benjamin, age 7.
